It’s no mistake that the Chevy Silverado has been named one of the top-performing power trucks in its class. This brawny pickup truck will carry you comfortably in the city, haul your trailer on vacation, and keep you safe while maneuvering over rugged terrain. New design features give the Silverado a classically chic look, especially as you go higher in trim levels.

New Features

We’re really excited by the changes and updates that Chevrolet has introduced with the 2022 model. Under the hood, the standard 2.7-liter engine now has increased torque (a total of 420 pound-feet), and the diesel engine can tow more than ever before! The mighty Silverado has been fitted with road-ready ZR2 suspension to support the larger payload capacity. Glide over bumps and rocks with minimal vibration and inside sound.

Inside the truck, the Chevy has been given a fresh look and some exciting new technology. The footwells are a little roomier, giving more legroom to your passengers, and the upholstery has been updated with more luxurious fabrics for a fancier feel. The instrument panel has been updated, and the center console has available electronic shift control. LT trim models and higher are fitted with a 13.4-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Safety Features

New drivers who aren’t totally confident on the road just yet will love the safety and assist features in the Silverado 1500. At nighttime, high beams turn on automatically if your front camera does not detect any vehicles ahead, and dim as you approach other drivers. If you choose the luxurious High Country trim, eye-gaze technology will even register when the driver’s eyes are no longer on the road, enabling you to stay focused even when driving hands-free.

Other safety features that are available on all models include lane departure warning, front pedestrian braking, collision alert, and automatic emergency brakes. For those nervous of parking or merging lanes, you have front and rear parking assist, as well as rear cross traffic alerts.

Towing Capacity and Assist Features

The towing capacity of the Silverado ranges from 6,800 pounds on the 2.7-liter engine to 13,400 pounds with a properly-equipped turbodiesel engine. If you’d like to keep a high payload capability while maintaining fuel economy, we suggest the available 5.3L EcoTec V8 engine. Make sure to select the Dynamic Fuel Management option to ensure the most miles per gallon. This gives you a towing capacity of 11,600 pounds but is only available with select trims.

Chevrolet has included a number of great towing assist features, like StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway Control and Hill Start Assist. For better visibility, you now have the option of available multi-view camera systems, so that you can see fifteen angles of your truck while you drive, merge, park, and reverse.
